PSJC Membership Application

If you need assistance with a paper form or to fill out over the phone, please contact office@psjc.org.

Please fill out the form below. Note that you cannot save a form in process, so you must complete all of the information and click to submit in order to enroll. Please do not close your browser until a confirmation screen appears.

To apply for membership please complete the form below. For a two adult household, our database requires one member to be the "primary" member. If there is only one adult who identifies as Jewish in that household, that adult should be the primary member.

PSJC welcomes members from varying backgrounds and identities. Please fill out the information as it applies to you and your household. You may always return to update your account in the future if you choose.

If you already have an account, you may log into your MyPSJC account and some information below will auto-populate. If you have forgotten your password, it is easy to reset using "forgot password."

The Conservative Movement defines "Jewish" as one who is either born to a Jewish mother or who has undergone a halachic conversion to Judaism. At least one family member must be Jewish by this definition and only this adult has voting privileges at our all-congregation meetings and the ability to lead ritual services and receive aliyot at the Torah. All household members are welcomed to participate in services, programming, and committee work. If you have any questions about this, please contact Rabbi Carie Carter at rabbicarie@psjc.org.

We hope that you will participate in services, programming, and committee work as a member of our community. Please note that at least one household member must be Jewish by the Conservative Movement's definition and only this adult has voting privileges at our all-congregation meetings and is able to lead ritual services and receive aliyot at the Torah. If you have any questions about this, please contact Rabbi Carie Carter at rabbicarie@psjc.org.
Traditionally people are called to the Torah as "ben" (son) or "bat" (daughter), followed by their parent/s' Hebrew names. If you would prefer to be called using "mi beit" (from the house of) or another term, please let Rabbi Carie know.
Member names, children's names, address, email, and phone number may be included on our community list.
Photographs from community events may be shared internally, as well as on our website and social media pages.

Membership Form Addendum
Approved by the PSCJ Board of Trustees on October 20, 2015

PSJC Membership

We wish to encourage people to join our community and experience all that we have to offer. We strive to be open and inclusive as guided by our mission statement:

To sustain a Jewish community dedicated to cherishing and renewing our tradition through religious growth, prayer, good works, and a commitment to take care of one another.

The PSJC By-Laws list the following membership requirements:

1. There must be (at least) one Jewish family member in any membership unit; only adult members who are Jewish are able to vote or serve on the Board.

2. All members are required to sign the Egalitarian statement on the membership form.

Additional Membership Requirements:

Our policy is that children can only become a bar/bat/brit mitzvah at PSJC with the appropriate learning, as determined by the Rabbi. In common with the Conservative movement, we expect each child to have attended religious school (in our Hebrew School or in a program acceptable to the Rabbi) for 5 years. Ordinarily, we expect the family to have maintained membership in our congregation for a minimum of 2 years.

Members may not purchase a burial plot or grave unless they have been members in good standing of the congregation for at least two years.

If you wish to request an exception to these policies, please speak with the Rabbi.

I/We understand the requirements and policies for membership. Should I/we need to ask for an exception to be made for me/us, allowing me/us to purchase a grave or have a bar/bat/brit mitzvah, I/we will commit to at least two years of membership; I/we intend to have PSJC in my/our future, and I/we look forward to a relationship with the congregation in the years to come.
Please initial here that you have read the above addendum to PSJC Membership.
